"A good test of a person’s character is his behavior when he is wrong."
When I read this quote, I recalled a recent incident where someone was caught in a situation and did everything in his power to play the victim. Even when confronted with the facts and how he blew things out of proportion, he still tried to play the victim and not admit to his own fault/actions in what took place and move to correct his behavior. It took a lot of gumption on the parts of the other parties involved to not back down and make said person account for what he did and make the necessary concessions and apologies.
To that end, I take a lot of pride in trying to make good when I've done something wrong. I get the most awful feeling inside of me that does not rest until I can and have found a way to fix things.
I think it's extremely important for people to take the necessary provisions to correct their wrongdoings and rest on their integrity and moral fiber. While it's not always easy to admit fault, it's still a well-noted and received quality. When one is willing to admit s/he is wrong, the wrongdoing isn't always thrown back at them, but instead the fact of being of good character is always mentioned and remembered.
I recall an incident with Lil Lady and she hurt and disappointed me enormously, but she went to great lengths to remedy the situation that all I could do was praise her and her improvements. Being a part of the solution is far better than being a part of the situation.
The more I live life, the more I see how much integrity, moral fiber, and content of character is so important. With the installation of these traits, we're able to become raise better children, handle various situations, and most importantly be seen as upstanding people. No one wants to be branded a liar or untrustworthy, but so many are willing to receive that than stand up and do the hard thing, which has more value. Doing the right thing may be hard, but it carries the most weight and is more favorable in the long run.
As I look at the current political arena, I've become more aware of how important it is to stand firm on your convictions is they're true than to appease the masses or lie your way out of a situation. It's my humble opinion that if you're really 'bout it; bout it, you don't need to sling mud at another to make your point because your actions will speak for you and your moral fiber remains in tact. Jamaican's have an expression, "the higher the monkey climbs, the more he exposes". I think it's all time we stop climbing trees and remain on firm ground.
Well class is now over kiddies. I hope the opening quote will be of use out there in classroom of life and help you to be of good character.
Love!

Maintaining Face
Ever run into someone you wished you’d never see again in life? I just experienced that. I ran into my best friends ex-girlfriend. I walked into the break area and there she was staring into the vending machine. I concealed my shock with good face and greeted her with a cheery disposition. We exchanged the usual formalities as I quickly washed my bowl and filled my cup for tea.
Seeing as I’m a woman of character, I played nice and went on with my business though a part of me wanted to slap the taste out of her mouth for even speaking to me. Ever find yourself in that position? Where you want to just ask the person what the heck they were thinking when they did what they did? That feeling rolled up on me like a ninja as I continued to smile gracefully and not compromise myself as a woman or a professional seeing as this occurred at the jay-o.
The flashback of the hell she took my boy through leading up to their breakup, raced with mach speed through my mind. She did him dirty plain and simple and the effects were devastating for him considering he’d bought a ring and was preparing to pop the question. Seeing my boy, who’s the epitome of the Alpha Male with all his machismo cry, was more than I could handle; so you know I’ve got no love for the girl. Whatever their problems were was their business, but when I became aware of the levels of shade being thrown his way, that’s when his business became my business.
All of this happened two years ago and I’ve forgiven her in my mind, but trust that I haven’t forgotten. Seeing her reminded me that I’m not petty though and how much I've matured since then (trust and believe I wanted to put the Tims in that ass). I held my head high, did and greet, and went on with my business. I wondered if she gave any thought to what seeing me made her feel, but honestly I don’t think I care. She had to reconcile with herself and God for what she did, while I was the friend he needed to get through it.
Life/people throw many curve balls you’re way, but when you maintain a good countenance and have integrity and content of character, you can bat your way though it. As I write about it, I think it was actually kind of funny and I wish I could have seen the look on my face, but from what my friend told me who was with her, it was priceless.

“No deception is more dangerous than self-deception.”
Have you ever withheld something from yourself or someone else because you were afraid or didn’t know how to handle a situation? Have you ever tried to convince yourself that something or someone wasn’t as it or they seemed? If you’ve answered yes to either of these questions, then you’ve participated in the aforementioned quote. It’s nothing to be ashamed; instead something to be aware of. We’ve all done it and we all continue to do it, but now that you have this quote in your head, maybe it can and will prevent you from continuing this practice.
Our integrity is something we all value and something that defines us as whom we are, so it’s important to not delude ourselves into thinking we’re more or less than whom we are. It is monumentally important that we not allow ourselves to be pigeon-holed into thinking that we can skate through life unaccountable in some way for what we do; how we do it; and to whom we do it. Each us of has our day of reckoning coming and we all need to find ways to come clean and not continue to walk a path of self-destruction. We are no more or less better than the next person and putting someone down in any capacity to make ourselves look/feel better is harmful to both the offender and the offended. We live in trying times and it’s only been a couple weeks since we; or at least many of us celebrated the late Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday, so let’s continue to carry his words and what he stood for forward in order to make ourselves and this world a better place.
